Have you thought about the device in detail, or do you have just a general idea what you need?

Either way, Black Box can work with you. However, it is faster and easier if you have thought about exactly what you want the device to do in as much detail as possible. Examples of really helpful details to have thought about in advance are:

• Does it turn on with a button press or a slide switch or is it voice-activated?
• Is the case plastic, metal, or something else?
• How much should it weigh?
• How big should it be?
• What colors do I want for the case, lights, switches, etc?
• Should it be made to last for a year or a decade?
• Who will be using it?
  
• Do I have too many "bells and whistles" on it or not enough?
• What kind of environment will it be used in? (i.e. Could it get wet, dropped, chewed on?)
• Do I want a fancy custom case for it, or will a bought enclosure be just fine?
• How much do I want to try to sell it for (if applicable)?
