How much will it cost?
There are two methods of billing-"by the job" and
"hourly/actual". Each has advantages and disadvantages. You must decide
which approach looks best for a given project.
"By the Job"
- An itemized estimate is presented with a "set in stone"
dollar amount.
- Protects you from cost overruns on the part of Black Box
- Note that cost "underruns" are still charged the
estimate amount
"Hourly/Actual"
- Billing is done at hourly rate only for exact time
spent, and part/board/shipping costs are passed through directly to you
without markup
- Can save you money over "by the job" approach if
project is simpler than predicted
- Can also cost more than "by the job" approach in
possible event project is more difficult than expected (we try not to
let this happen)
The basic engineering rate is $80.00 per man-hour. This is applied
blanket to all phases of project development including schematic
capture, layout, fabrication, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
